Robert M. Brantley was born in Tallahassee, Fl. on August 26,
1971 to Robert William Brantley Jr. and Barbara Ann (Crockett) Brantley.
Brantley spent the majority of his formative years
raised in Norman Oklahoma by his mother.
As a boy Brantley learned to play the Piano, Violin and
sang for a variety of church and school groups. He also studied ballet and
played soccer.
In junior high he was mowing as many lawns as a kid
could cram into a summer day and before graduating high school his jobs included
Asbestos Abatement, Residential
and Commercial Landscaping, Field Hand, Fast
Food Cook, Grocery Stocker, and a wide variety of other types of
general labor.
When Brantley was 15 years old he was court ordered
from his Mother's home, in Norman, to his Father's home in Calumet
Oklahoma where he lived for approximately 6 months.
Brantley graduated from Marionville
High School (MO) in 1989 at age 17 after having enjoyed the
generosity, home, and family of his uncle, David A. Crockett.
Following high school, he signed with the United States Marine Corps
and shipped to Marine Corps Recruit
Depot in San Diego where he completed Boot Camp and subsequent Marine
Combat Training.
Brantley then attended the US
Army Chemical School and was educated in the arts of Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical (NBC)
Defense.
Following Graduation, Brantley shipped to Okinawa
Japan and worked as a Nuclear, Biological,
and Chemical Defensive Specialist for the 3rd
Marine Logistics Group (Formerly
the 3rd Fleet Service Support Group)
December 31st of 1990 saw Brantley traveling to Sonthofen
Germany to train on the Fox
Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Reconnaissance System in preparation
for Desert Storm.
This training was put to good use while providing Chemical
Reconnaissance Missions for the Breach Team of 1st Battalion 6th Marines before, during, and after combat operations
of Desert Storm.
Following Combat Operations in the Gulf, Brantley
returned to Okinawa for a period then transferred to the 2nd
Marine Division based out of Camp Lejeune, NC. where he continued to
serve in the field of NBC Defense and also
served as a FOX
Vehicle Commander.
Brantley reenlisted as a Combat
Correspondent working in the field of Public Affairs.
While serving Marine
Corps Base Camp Lejeune (North Carolina), in this new role, he wrote
for The Globe and was
a reporter and anchor for the Camp
Lejeune Television News Show with featured stories appearing on the Navy
and Marine Corps News, Leatherneck
Magazine, and other military and civilian media outlets around
the world. He also studied Electronic
Journalism at the Defense Information School.

While
serving with the Public Affairs office,
Brantley was repeatedly called on to be the official voice and narrator of
CAPEX.
Brantley also worked for six months at the II
Marine Expeditionary Force Congressional
Inquiry Office serving as a congressional
liaison.
While in the Marine Corps, he had the opportunity to
travel extensively throughout the United States and
World.
Following his second enlistment, he put his name out as a free-lance videographer
and was contacted by the Vacation Channel
in Branson for a project.
By the time the project was completed, Brantley
had been hired as Production Manager by Gannaway
Productions. Brantley served the company well coordinating production work
with Albert Gannaway through offices located in Branson (MO), Nashville (TN), Pigeon forge
(TN), and Orlando (FL).
In 1997 Brantley moved back to the Ozarks, received custody of his children, and
enrolled at Missouri State University.
Initially, he studied for a degree in electronic arts, focusing on
animation. After taking a Communication Theory Course and an Introductory
Political Science course he realized a combination of politics and communication was
his future.
This led him to pursue and earn a Bachelors of Science in
Socio-Political Communication and an Associates
Degree in Public Administration. While attending MSU, Brantley was
inducted into Lambda
Pi Eta. After being elected President of the organization, Brantley
was instrumental in the creation and implementation of The
Missouri State Public Speaking Lab.
Brantley is a self-employed organizational communication
consultant and spends the majority of his time providing Pro-bono Constituent
Services for Northwest Springfield Residents, Administrating local and
regional informational web sites (www.137th.com,
www.GreeneCountyDemocrats.org,
www.MissouriLeadership.com,
www.RobertBrantley.com) and is

Asbestos Abatement
I spent the summer vacation between my junior and senior year of high school
living in a motel in Blytheville Arkansas pulling asbestos out of their public
schools.
I didn't much wear a mask when I was working because as a kid I didn't
understand the danger of asbestos. Workers at one of the schools we were
cleaning up were robbed at gun point 3 times. We worked 12 hour days 7 days a
week.
Looking back I better understand the value of the proper enforcement of child labor
laws and the need for great public oversight over business interests.

Landscaping and
Maintenance
Lawn Mower:
I was making advertisements on 3x5 cards and distributing
them door to door seeking lawn mowing jobs as early as age 10.
Commercial Landscape:
Before I was old enough to drive I held a job working for a professional landscape company on the weekends.
One weekend the 2.5
ton tree digger truck we were operating stalled in the middle of the road. Being
a stupid 15 year old I positioned myself behind the cab and in front of the rear
duel
tires so we could push-start it. When the truck started it ran over my feet, up
my legs, and across my pelvic bone. Somehow my torso and head got out of the way
and the only damage was three breaks to my pelvic bone, and numerous broken
bones in my feet. I was very fortunate.
I understand what it is to work hard and get hurt working.
In my case, the employer stepped up to the plate and paid all of the medical
bills without having to be asked. He also let me know, while I was still in the
hospital, that as soon as I recovered I still had a job waiting.
This isn't the case in today's corporate driven business model. We don't need
frivolous lawsuits but we do need to ensure that when your get hurt on the job
you are taken care of by the employer...regardless. If they are not willing to
step up to the plate and take care of business on their own then it is our duty
to prod the correct behavior out of them.

Fast Food: (McDonalds and Hardy's)
The first time I worked for the Fast Food Industry was in 12th grade. I drove to
the McDonalds in Mt. Vernon from Marionville after school. While waiting to ship
off to Boot Camp, I also worked at Hardees. (Cook, Front Counter, Drive-Thru)
