Thank you for restoring the Park.

Grant Beach has some wonderful memories for me from 1948 to 1952 till we moved to S.C. My father who worked for Frisco would take us 3 girls every night to the park in the summer. He loved baseball. We sometime sat with him. Other times we would play in the park. We enjoyed the swimming pool during the day.

We lived on E. Calhoun between Jefferson and Benton. We had a wonderful neighborhood. 1/2 block to Drury college. I did not realize the park was in bad shape. Do they still have a swimming pool? My son who is 50 enjoyed the park as a child. My parents moved back to Springfield in 1964. During the summer I would send David back to Springfield for the summer.

On behalf of my fellow members in the local Libertarian Party, I would like to thank Robert Brantley, Derek White, and all the sponsors and supporters who made the Northwest Springfield Neighborhood Softball Blowout Bonanza happen. I would also like to say thank you for allowing many people, representing varying causes and points of view, to set up booths at the event.

This was a worthy cause, and the kind of thing even a limited-government person can love - using the power of private donations and civic action to get things done. It was also good to see representatives of CFP at their booth, in their spiffy new logo'ed T-shirts. Glad to see a community newspaper doing things other news outlets should be doing, attending and supporting community events.

Thanks again for providing the opportunity for a variety of opinions, to the organizers of the softball event, to the Free Press, and for a wonderful Sunday afternoon of fun and entertainment.

I was at the Softball Blowout Bonanza down at Grant Beach Park! We had a ball! All the free pizza we could stand! Door Prizes! It was great to see so many people out in the Park, using it the way it was meant to be used - kids, senior citizens, families, dogs & birds. All were having a great time. The weather was perfect.

Thank you Rob & Derek for all of your hard work; and a big THANK YOU to Jodi Adams, of the Park Board for all of her hard work in helping to restore the baseball field in our Park.

I would love to have ran again. But, family comes first this time around. I may try again in two years.

Keep me updated if I can help let me know.

Robert has done more for spreading the Democratic Message then anyone I know.

Considering that the Republicans control and dominate most of the political messaging in Southwest Missouri, Brantley has actively countered their message by publishing and producing countless Democratic E-publications and print publications.

He has done more for the Democratic Media than anyone in Southwest Missouri and his work is well received by many across the State.

Robert has extensive knowledge of the democratic process and government. He uses this knowledge to help others. He teaches others to utilize available resources so that they may better their living situations.

Robert has worked to teach people, such as myself, how to become more involved in the democratic process. He is a strong advocate of free speech. Robert Brantley always puts the needs of others before his own.

When people come to Robert with a need he does everything in his power to fulfill that need. I have personally witnessed him take food from his own kitchen and deliver it to a family that could not afford groceries for a few days.

Robert is very involved in the community. He is the voice of those people who are unable to speak up for themselves.

For all of these reasons, I believe Robert Brantley is a model Democrat and very much deserves the award.

There are probably a lot of folks who think like he does when it comes to fighting for the rights of the weak and poor but he is the only one I have seen who has the gumption to fight as openly and publicly as he does.

Whether I see him speaking up about the Broadway Crossing Issue on the news, protesting George Bush and Roy Blunt on the street, or providing constituent service work just because it's the right thing to do he is constantly on the move doing good things for the Party.

I've been a Democrat all my life but have yet to meet anyone who has done as much good for our local party as Rob has and he deserves to be recognized for his efforts.
